Elizabeth A. "Libby" Hanson, age 90 passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born in Darlington, WI on May 2, 1934 the daughter of John and Edith (Shellito) Siegenthaler. Libby grew up in Fayette and attended the Cook Country School and graduated from Darlington High School in 1952. On May 2, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald Hanson. Libby had worked as a payroll and benefits specialist for the Wisconsin State Patrol for many years. She was very proud of her Swiss Heritage and was a loyal Packer and Badger fan. Libby love to bake and play cards, especially Euchre. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville.
Libby is survived by her daughters Kathy Welsh, Kristi Wallin, and Kay (Les) Lathrop, grandchildren Stacy (Jeremy) Argue, Joshua (Ashley) Grunnet, and James (Joni) Grunnet, great-grandchildren Eva, Emilie, Steven, and Caitlyn. She is further survived by her siblings Orvin (Ruth) Siegenthaler and Ruth (Jerry) Custis, brother-in-law David (Geraldine) Hanson, and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, sons-in-law Steve Grunnet and David Wallin, siblings Keith Siegenthaler, Pauline McMannes, Robert Siegenthaler, and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with Rev. Laura Kolden officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Cemetery.
A visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI.
The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Orest Kostelyna and his staff along with the neighbors in the apartment building for the kind and compassionate care given to mom.
