Elaine M. Westby, age 76, of New Glarus passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on July 11, 1934 in Mt. Horeb to her parents Edwin and Myrtle (Jacobson) Throndson. Elaine was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Horeb High School. On August 8, 1953 she was united in marriage to Ralph K. Westby at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville. Elaine worked for forty years as an administrative assistant for the State of Wisconsin Division of Health. Following her retirement she also worked at the Kuchenhaus gift shop in New Glarus during the summer. Elaine and Ralph enjoyed many trips to Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and their annual winter trip to Florida. Family and friends meant so very much to Elaine, they were her life. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, loved to attend their sporting events, and to simply just spend time with them. Elaine also enjoyed her flower gardens and watching her birds. Elaine is survived by her husband Ralph, sons Greg (Kathy) Westby and Gary (Debbie) Westby, three grandchildren Joshua, Amanda, and Andy Westby, a brother Russell (JoAnn) Throndson, and her five special nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, inlaws, and many uncles and aunts. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Perry Lutheran Church, 1057 Highway 78 South, Mount Horeb, WI with Pastor Hans S. T. Floan officiating with burial in the Perry Lutheran Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.
