Dorothy Marie Watkins, age 88, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on May 17, 1926 to her parents John and Hilda (Severson) Duerst at Monticello, WI. Dorothy graduated from Belleville High School in 1945 and was the valedictorian of her class. On August 17, 1945 she was united in marriage to Roy Watkins at the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. Dorothy worked at the family businesses of Roy's Auto and Watkins Salvage along with being a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. Dorothy enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens along with traveling to visit her sisters and their families throughout the United States. Dorothy is survived by her children Rhonda (Jim) Schliem, Debra (Ron) Zettle, Jim (Betty) Watkins, Janis (John) Diederich, Dan (Sally) Watkins, Joel (Jackie) Watkins, and Rachel (Kevin) Stampfli, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings Lillian Lee, Thelma (James) Klein, Doris (Tom) Hartmann, Vi (Bob) Jeglum, Joan (Ed) Klein, Linda (Duane) Telecky, Jackie (Will) Keller, Carol (Reese) Johnson, and John (Jem) Duerst. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roy in 2004. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker Hackman officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family. A memorial fund has been established.
