Dorothy I. Hustad, age 100 passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the New Glarus Home.  She was born on September 23, 1923 in Klevenville, WI the daughter of Stanley and Ella (Sponem) Hamilton.  Dorothy graduated from Verona High School.  On May 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Donald Hustad.  Dorothy was first a farm wife and also worked at Strickler's in New Glarus and then retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue after 23 years of service.  She was a charter member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus along with a past president and chaplain in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.  Dorothy enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing cards, and most of all time spent with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children Carol (Gary) Elmer and Duane (Lynne) Hustad, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law Leroy Collins, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, daughters Janice Disch and Lorna Righter, brothers Parnell (Arlene & Murilla), Eugene (Bernice), Larry (Genevieve), and Donald (Bernice), sisters Lavona (La Verne) Miller, Fern (William) McMahan, Joyce (Vincent) Alme, daughter-in-law Sonia Hustad, and great-grandson Alexander Chiarello.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 506 Twelfth Ave., New Glarus, WI with Pastor Erich Hartenberger officiating.  Burial will be in the Primrose East Cemetery, Belleville, WI.

A visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus.
