Dorothy J. Hoesly, age 86, of New Glarus passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on July 27, 1925 in the Town of Perry to her parents Henry and Emma (Gunderson) Gjesvold. Dorothy attended the Forward School. On August 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Cloyance F. Hoesly at the Hauge Church. Dorothy was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ, Postville Aid, and Meadow Valley Homemakers. Dorothy is survived by her son Dennis (Lillian "Toots") Hoesly of New Glarus, WI, two daughters Gloria (Bruce) Haug of McFarland, WI and Linda (Bruce) Gordon of San Jose, CA, seven grandchildren Michelle (Todd) Matuszak, Michael Schenk, Dan (Hilary) Gordon, Dennis (Kristine) Gordon, Audra (Eric) Harmon, Dustin (Brooke) Hoesly, and Devon (Josh) Kammerud, eleven great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Alice Gjesvold. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cloyance, two brothers Tenner and Kenneth Gjesvold, and two sisters Ruth Wild and Evelyn Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI. Memorials are suggested to the Monroe Clinic Hospice. The family would like give a special thanks to Brooke, the Hospice Staff, and the staff at the New Glarus Home.
