Dorothy L. Hanna, age 77, of New Glarus passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the New Glarus Home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 3, 1934 in Tomahawk, WI to her parents Mike and Gertrude (Raatz) VanRyen. Dorothy graduated from Tomahawk High School. On February 12, 1955 she was united in marriage to Orvin Hanna at Tomahawk, WI. Dorothy worked as a certified nursing assistant at the New Glarus Home for thirty years. Dorothy spent her retirement years sharing her love by handcrafting gifts for family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her children Mike (Deb) Hanna, Jeff (Kathy) Hanna, Scott Hanna, Terri (Lou) Nofsinger, Cindy (Gregg) Klute, and Chris (Tom) Quinn. She is further survived by her ten grandchildren Traci, Ryan, Alex, Jeremy, Brittany, Jamie, Kyle, Corey, Seth, and Dillon, three great-grandchildren Jack, Jenna, and Kendall, two sisters Marian Weber and Margaret (Bob) Furan, sisters-in-law Bea VanRyen and Elva Hanna, nieces, nephews, and special friends Duane, Shelley, and Alex Yaeger. She was preceded in death by her husband Orvin, parents, a brother Harold VanRyen, a grandson Brian, and other family members. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI. Per Dorothy's wishes private family graveside services with Rev. Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the East Primrose Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
