Dorothy Ellen Froehlich passed away at the New Glarus Home on Monday, November 8, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 25, 1927 to Eric and Ermin Berg in North Bend, Oregon. While in high school she worked nights and weekends at the local hospital as a nurses' aide. Upon graduation from North Bend High School in 1945, she married Armond Froehlich, who during WWII, was stationed at the Naval base in Coos Bay, Oregon. At the end of the war they moved to Armond's hometown of West Allis, Wisconsin. Besides raising six children, Dorothy also worked part-time as a waitress at various places in the Milwaukee area. In 1965 she moved to Belleville with her husband and family to own and operate the Gambles hardware store. Upon the sale of the store in 1979, she began working for General Casualty Insurance, and later Sycom, both in Madison. She is survived by a brother Jim Berg: daughters Sandra (Mike) Achterberg, Barbara Froehlich, and Cheryl (Tim) O'Connor; sons Duane (Janie) Froehlich, Mike (Kathy) Froehlich, and William (Dianne) Froehlich. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Susan Faulk, Christine Mujkanovic, Darlene Korpi, Brian Froehlich, Heather Brittain, Brea McCluskey, Tyler O'Connor, Ashley O'Connor, Nicole Froehlich and Samantha Froehlich; as well as 12 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Armond and her parents. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank the fine doctors, nurses and staff of the New Glarus Nursing Home, as well as the wonderful people at Hospice. Funeral services will be held at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville at 2:00 p.m. on Friday November 12, 2010. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a service and burial at the Belleville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
