Dennis Russell Stuessy, age 87, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 after a long struggle with Alzheimers. He was born on June 9, 1924 to his parents John and Sylvia (Schmidt) Stuessy at New Glarus. Dennis was first united in marriage to Marie Monte in 1948. Later after Marie's passing, Dennis married Mary Lou Widish in 1993. Dennis farmed in the New Glarus area for all his life. He was also a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Dennis is survived by his wife Mary Lou, sons Donald Stuessy and David (Laura) Stuessy, grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, Nicholas, and Tori, a special great-granddaughter Kaitlin, nine step children, twenty step grandchildren, and eight step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers. The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Pleasant View Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Dennis was a wonderful gentle soul, who loved everyone. He never purposely hurt the land he worked, the animals in his care, or any person who crossed his path in life. The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is serving the family. At Dennis's request private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Swiss United Church of Christ or Pleasant View Nursing Home.
