David Wallin, age 61, of Belleville passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 22, 1951 at Prairie du Chien, WI to his parents Frederick and Margaret (Lenzendorf) Wallin. David graduated from Middleton High School in 1969. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam Conflict. David served aboard the U.S.S. Lang-DE-1060 with ports of call including Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, New Zealand, and Japan. In 1974 David started work at the University of Wisconsin-Physical Plant until retiring in January of 2008. David was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. He enjoyed playing cribbage, country music, hunting, fishing, and times at the cabin. David also enjoyed traveling the U.S. with the Goldwing Road Riders Association on his motorcycle, snowmobiling, and collecting model tractors. David is survived by his wife Kristi of Belleville, WI, mother Margaret Wallin of Middleton, WI, a son Ben (Alicia) Wallin of Brodhead, WI, grandchildren Jameson and Hudson Wallin, and another grandchild on the way. He is further survived by a brother Richard (Trudy) Wallin of Viroqua, WI, sisters Charlotte Wallin of Sun Prairie, WI, Gayle (Richard) Schwartz of Middleton, WI, Julie (Bruce) Levers of Monona, WI, mother-in-law Libby Hanson of Belleville, WI, sisters-in-law Kathy Welsh of St. Charles, IL and Kay (Les) Lathrop of Gays Mills, WI, great nephew Steven Grunnet, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Frederick, brother Douglas, and a brother-in-law Steve Grunnet. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the church. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family. A memorial fund has been established.
