David O. Blumer, age 70 passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013. He was born November 10, 1942, son of Henry and Berniece Blumer, in Madison, Wisconsin. He and his wife Judi (Viney) Blumer were married on April 22, 1964 in Belleville, Wisconsin. After 20 years of work in the manufacturing industry, Dave started his own recycling business which earned him the local title of "Scrapmaster". Dave had a passion for salvaging metals, or anything he thought could be recycled or useful to others, and turned it into a successful business appropriately named "Junk-n-Joy". He and Judi spent the last sixteen years traveling Wisconsin and bordering states to attend markets and shows, buying and selling merchandise. (He never saw an anvil he didn't like.) Dave found great joy salvaging, always looking for the hidden treasures like a kid in a toy store. He always had a story to tell of the day's discoveries and a child/grandchild ready to help him find the next treasure. Dave was also an avid Packer fan. Dave loved his family and had a quiet humor that was with him to the end. He is survived and dearly missed by his wife Judi Blumer; siblings Judy (Harry) Ethridge, Sharon (Dick) Dallman, Bonnie (Denny) Dederich, Bill (Karen) Blumer; children David (Diane) Blumer, Dennis (Peggy) Blumer, Deb (Mark) Smith, DeeDee (Kevin) Hosking, Dawn (Derek) Gebler; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Berniece Blumer and a granddaughter Mariska Smith. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker Hackman officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 12:00 noon until time of services on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
