Daniel James Ufken, age 57, of Belleville passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at home from a heart attack. He was born on March 25, 1954 in Monroe to Alfred and Carla (Lewis) Ufken. Dan graduated from New Glarus High School in 1972. Following graduation he worked at the Chalet Cheese Co-Op, Monroe Truck Equipment, and had recently worked for Judd's Auto Body in New Glarus for the last eleven years. Dan was a master auto restorer and especially liked 1959 Chevy El Camino's. He was very mechanically talented with an ability to fabricate or fix anything; Dan also possessed a special talent for painting flames on vehicles. Daniel is survived by his parents Carla and Alfred Ufken of New Glarus, WI, brothers David (Dorothy) Ufken of Nekoosa, WI, Larry Ufken of Beloit, WI, and Wayne Ufken of Monroe, WI, sisters Debra Ufken of Middleton, WI and Linda (Dan) Stolts of New Glarus, WI. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews Melanie (Jeff) Judd, Alen (Reyna) Zweifel, Andrea Stolts, Tonya (Mohammed) Welgi, and A.J. Ufken, great-nieces and great-nephews Jerrod, Ashley, and Allyson Judd, Jacob and Alex Zweifel, Ayaan Welgi, and his cats. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI with Rev. Sara Thiessen officiating with burial to follow in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus.
