Daniel L. Freitag, age 69 passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. He was born on July 13, 1956 in Minnesota the son of Leroy and Bernice (Kirstein) Freitag. Dan graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1974. On October 24, 1994 he was united in marriage to Kay Saunders at the Washington Reformation Church. Dan was a member of the Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle and the Monticello Lions Club. He was a carpenter with gifted hands, loved the open road, and loved his family deeply. Dan lived a life of quiet strength, caring, and showing love in the ways that mattered most.
Dan is survived by his wife Kay, children Dustin (Neva) Freitag, Andrew (Whitney) Anderson, and Melissa (Rod Mussehl) Anderson, grandchildren Trent, Alexa, Griffin, Finnegan, Desi, Gavin, & Kylah, great-grandchildren Arlo & Eli. He is further survived by his siblings Susan Gohr, Connie (Wayne) Robinson, Julie Mikkelson, and Laurie Gallaher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Calvin.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 1540 Old Hwy 81, Argyle, WI with Pastor Rick Gleason officiating. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery, rural Belleville, WI.
A visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 1540 Old Hwy 81, Argyle, WI.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
We find comfort in knowing he is now at peace, in the presence of the Lord, finally free of pain and sickness. While our hearts are heavy, we trust in God’s promise that we will see him again. Until that day, we carry his love with us in everything we do.
