Claire D. Rundhaug, age 74 passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on November 2, 1950 the son of Milo and Henrietta (Westers) Rundhaug. Claire graduated from Hollandale High School in 1968. On June 16, 1973 he was united in marriage to Gail Fetzek in Dodgeville. The couple resided outside New Glarus for many years until moving to Oregon. Claire had owned and operated C & G Autobody and then later worked as a heavy equipment appraiser for Crawford & Company until starting his own equipment appraisal business North Central Damage Appraisals in 1997 that he operated until retiring in 2022. He was an avid hunter and fisherman along with being a fan of NASCAR and football. Most of all he enjoyed following and watching his grandchildren in their sports.
Claire is survived by his wife Gail, daughter Amber (David) Tierman, and grandsons Hunter and Brayden (fiancé Sammy Schmidt) Tierman. He is further survived by his sisters Gloria Smith, Celia (Larry) Leck, Patsy Bambrough, Karen Padilla, Judy Parker, and Nancy Harjo, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Christine & Russell Ace, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James Borchardt, Jack Borchardt, and Jerry Nelson.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI. A time of remembrance will conclude the gathering at the funeral home.
