Charles A. "Warehouse Charlie" Rolph III, age 85, former Monticello, WI resident passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born on May 30, 1929 in Freeport, IL to his parents Charles and Meta (Muehlmeier) Rolph. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1947, attended Mission House College, and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Business. On November 30, 1952 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Schmoker. Charlie worked for the railroad and had also built furniture and operated a soda pop factory making Bubble Up and Whistle in Madison. Later he worked for Gerry Disch operating the Disch Outlet Store in Monticello until starting Warehouse Charlie's on Main Street and then moving the business out to the highway. Charlie and his wife Liz also operated the Attic Shop, the Town Edge Motel and Restaurant in New Glarus, and Our Own Hardware in Monticello. Charlie is survived by his wife Liz of Waupaca, WI, daughters Lori (Kerry Lee) Blanke of Waupaca, WI and Roann Austin of Monticello, WI, grandchildren Kymberly (Andrew) Englund of Omaha, NB, Dr. Kristina Blanke of Waukesha, WI, and Kervin (fiancé Lindsey Melville) Blanke of Milwaukee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Rosemarie (Edwin) Klassy and Laura Rolph. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 East Lake Ave., Monticello, WI with the Rev. Jeannie Douglas officiating with burial in Highland Cemetery, Monticello, WI. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello. The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is serving the family. A memorial fund has been established.
