Carl G. Richter

Carl G. Richter, age 87 of Belleville passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 9, 1938 in Elkhart Lake, WI the son of Carl M. and Edna E. (Horneck) Richter. Carl graduated from Elkhart Lake High School in 1956 and then continued his education at Sheboygan Business College and later Fox Valley Technical College graduating in 1969. While growing up in Elkhart Lake Carl and his brother Clarence ran the horse stable at Camp Harand and he also worked at Thielman’s Meats. Following high school Carl entered in the Army Reserve and Wisconsin National Guard serving until 1964. On April 8, 1967 he was united in marriage to Joyce Quade in Chilton, WI. Carl and his family lived in Madison where he worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for many years retiring in 1996. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. In retirement he enjoyed playing Euchre, trips to the casino, traveling, golfing, fishing, and most of all supporting his grandchildren with their sports and school activities. Carl will be remembered as a kind, genuine guy who was always ready to help others along with taking the time to stop and talk with you.

Carl is survived by his daughter Lori (Phil) Thompson, grandchildren Morgan (Hunter) Marshall, Hailey Thompson, and Coleden Thompson, and great-grandson Ronin. He is further survived by his sisters JoAnn Harms and Diane Ninnemann, sister-in-law Beth Richter, nieces, nephews, and companion Mary Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, daughter Debra, father-in-law and mother-in-law Lester & Anne Quade, brothers and sister-in-law Clarence & Elveria Richter and Wallace Richter, and brothers-in-law John Harms and Richard Ninnemann.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Rev. Laura Kolden officiating.

A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
