Obituary

Betty Jean Quirk, 86, passed away Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2017, from complications of dementia and pneumonia. She was born July 19, 1931, to John and Rose (Fina) Aiholzer in Milwaukee. Betty graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing Aug. 31, 1952, and received state certification as a registered nurse Nov. 6, 1952, serving as a Public Health and school nurse until her retirement. Betty married Quinn Quirk at Bethel Chapel in Milwaukee Aug. 8, 1953, and resided many years in Belleville where she and Quinn tended his extensive orchard, selling apples at the Madison Farmers Market and from their home. Betty loved her cats and dogs, enjoyed music, especially Pavarotti and musical theater, and was a fan of PBS, NPR, old movies and murder mysteries. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, John, Jr. She is survived by sister-in-law, Corinne Aiholzer, brother-in-law, Jim (Joanne) Quirk, several nieces and nephews, Quinn's daughter, Kathy Meredith, her cat, Redi and several dear friends. Per her wishes there will be no funeral service; a private committal of her ashes will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Belleville High School, Belleville Senior Center, Belleville Library or Dane County Humane Society.
