Obituary

Belva C. Rear-Austin, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 15, 1920 to Beulah (Hanson) and Clifford Rear at Argyle in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. When Belva was two years old the family moved to a farm in the Blanchardville area. She was baptized and confirmed in the Adams Lutheran Church, and attended York Center Grade School and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1937. On March 26, 1938 Belva was united in marriage to Glenys J. Austin of Belleville. The couple farmed in the Town of Primrose. After retiring from farming they moved to the home that Gleny's built in 1968. The couple later moved to Belleville in 2004. Belva was a teacher and superintendent of the Primrose Lutheran Church Sunday School. She was also a member of the Primrose WELCA and served as secretary. Belva was a member of the Harker School Mothers Club, Dane County Homemakers, and was a 4-H leader along with her husband Glenys for seventeen years. Belva worked at the Four Winds Manor for two years and the New Glarus Home for twelve years. She and Glenys spent many winters in Florida camping in their RV, and they were members of the Oregon Bell Ringers. Belva enjoyed her big family, especially their holiday get togethers. She also enjoyed embroidery, sewing, gardening, and flowers. Belva is survived by her daughters Beverly (Robert) Flanagan of Belleville, and Jean Austin of Madison, son-in-law Dennis Bahr of Middleton, daughter-in-law Mary Austin of Belleville, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenys, sister Clarice Bredeson, brothers Clifford Rear Jr. and Jerry Rear, daughter Corrine Bahr, son Donald Austin, granddaughter Belinda Reuter, and a great-granddaughter Brittany Reuter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Primrose Lutheran Church, 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the Primrose East Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross Belleville, WI. Memorials are suggested the Primrose Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
