Beatrice H. Pope, age 100, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on March 14, 1918 in the Town of York, rural Blanchardville one of ten children to Benhard and Helga (Anderson) Jeglum. Bea attended the Meadow View School and then began working in many homes in the area until moving to Madison to work at Qualite Laundry. On August 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Emory Pope at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Bea farmed with her husband in the New Glarus/Blanchardville area and also worked at the New Glarus Home. Bea loved music, she sang with her sisters in the church choir, and played guitar, accordion, and piano with her family at neighborhood gatherings. She was also an accomplished quilter making hundreds of baby quilts over the years. Bea was a charter member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus.
Bea is survived by her three sons Duane (Sue), Alan (Sonja), and Bruce, grandchildren Cristi (James) Baker, Corey (Rachel) Pope, Heather (Jim) Dunne, Sean (Mary) Noble, and Carrie (Greg McGlynn) Pope, great-grandchildren Allison, Dylan, Landon, Braden, Logan, KJ, and Jakob. She is further survived by her sister Lois (Erv) Evenson, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Emory, brothers Gene, Enos, Curtis, Jim, and Howard, sisters Ethel Logeson, Grace Iverson, and Avis Oppliger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Primrose Lutheran Church 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI (due to construction at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church) with Rev. Gene Talley officiating with burial in the Old York Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Primrose Lutheran Church.
A memorial fund has been established.
