Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Arlin "Ralph" Wayne Urfer announce his passing at the age of 76. He passed away on June 2, 2024 at the New Glarus Nursing Home after a courageous battle with vascular dementia.  Arlin was born on November 4, 1947, to Marjorie (Storkson) and Edward Urfer in Richland Center, WI.  Arlin worked at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company before moving to Denver, Colorado in 1980, where he worked at Mountain Bell (Quest) until his retirement in 2007. Arlin also served in the United States Air Force.  Prior to retirement, Arlin returned to Belleville every summer for two weeks. Once retired, he enjoyed spending the entire summer with family and staying with Tex and Connie. During his summer visits he enjoyed playing cribbage, poker, board games, day adventures, morning coffee at Corner Cafe and going for daily swims at the Belleville pool with Connie and his nieces Payton, Olivia, Presley and nephew Nolan. Arlin loved ice cream and always made sure there were ice-cream treats for everyone to cap off a day of fun at the pool. Arlin looked forward to the yearly visits from Megan, Cody and Nolan to Colorado which started when Nolan was 8 months old. Arlin also enjoyed his trips to the casino and daily walks to get his scratch off tickets.

Arlin is survived by six of his siblings including Ed (Gloria) Urfer, Tex (Connie) Urfer, Sue (Bill) Pickett, Janice Heaton, Janet Urfer, Scott (Stephanie) Keyes, a special niece Megan Hisel along with many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Scotty for helping Arlin through his battle with vascular dementia.

Arlin was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather John Keyes and sisters/brother in-laws Anna (Don) Layton, Dee (Jim) Roum, and loving niece Diana Shope.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Agrace, especially Hailey, Lindsey and Megan for their compassionate care for Arlin. We would also like to thank the staff at New Glarus Home, especially Wendy, Brian and Kenna.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.  A time of remembrance will conclude the gathering at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.

"Arlin, we will miss your sassy attitude and your heart of gold"
