IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony "Tony"
Dipofi
September 10, 1949 – May 10, 2025
Anthony "Tony" John DiPofi, age 75, of New Glarus, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 10, 1949, to Clarence and Jennie (Scavo) DiPofi.
Tony grew up in a close-knit family in Melrose Park, Illinois, and graduated from Proviso East High School. He went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. A lifelong advocate for joy and connection, Tony dedicated his career to health and human services. He spent the majority of it as a Recreational Therapist at Badger Prairie Healthcare Center in Verona, Wisconsin. It was there that he met his future wife, Nurse Janine (Tangye) DiPofi. Together, they built their dream home in the countryside of New Glarus, where they enjoyed the peace of rural life and retirement.
Earlier in life, Tony was married to Barbara Borghesi, with whom he shared two children.
Known for his vibrant personality and boundless creativity, Tony had many passions. He lovingly curated an eclectic collection of antiques and oddities, earning their home the nickname "the house of curiosities". He was also a talented lyricist, songwriter, and musician, best known for his exceptional blues harmonica playing. Over his 50-year musical career, he performed in various bands, captivating audiences with both original songs and covers. His harmonica playing brought joy to countless people and could light up any room or dance floor.
Tony is survived by his children, Rocco DiPofi and Rebecca (Bill) DiPofi Rogers. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jake, Ben, and Abbey Rogers; his sister, Victoria (John) Olino; and many dear friends, extended family members, and band mates.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Bill Fikes; his best friend, Frank Hutoff; and his beloved wife, Jan.
Tony's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was truly larger than life. A man with a quick wit, a deep love for his family, strong faith, and lungs powerful enough to breathe life into every note of his harp.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
