Obituary

Anna May Rhiner, age 92, of Verona passed away on May 4, 2025, at Four Winds Manor in Verona. She was born on September 30, 1932 in Madison to her parents Walter and Helene (Maurer) Herrington. Anna May graduated from Verona High School as Salutatorian. On July 24,1954, she was united in marriage to Julian Rhiner at the Salem United Church of Christ in Verona. Anna May enjoyed many years of crafting with the neighborhood homemakers. She served as a leader for the Valley View 4-H Club. She loved her quilting and making some beautiful quilts for her family. She even completed a quilt for every grandchild's high school graduation and wedding. Her quilting included her niece and her niece's family which made the hobby very special to her.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends of the Salem United Church of Christ Women's Guild and the Verona Legion Women's Auxiliary.  Anna May cherished her time working with Mark for 16 years as Salem's church secretary where she did whatever work needed to be done.

Anna May is survived by her children: Craig (Bonnie), Jayne (Jim), Elizabeth (Scott), grandchildren: Aaron (Elle), Kitt (Paul), Jarek (Kelly), Jacie (Kurtis), Anna Lanee, and ten great-grandchildren that warmed her heart when she could just sit and watch them run around. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Shirley (Lloyd), nieces, nephews and her Maurer cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Jenna, great-granddaughter Jenna and her brother Sheldon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Salem United Church of Christ, 502 Mark Dr., Verona, WI with Rev. Phil Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in the Verona Cemetery.

Visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Salem United Church of Christ in Verona.

The family would like to thank the staff at Four Winds Manor and Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. for keeping Mom comfortable in her final days. A special thank you to her god-daughter Carolyn for being Mom's caring angel when she needed someone by her side and to her great-niece Laura for being mom's personal beautician.  Enjoy polka dancing with your Julian again.
