Alleda J. Gerber, age 87, of New Glarus passed away on Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on June 27, 1924 in Verona to her parents John and Aldah (Pascoe) Hefty. Alleda attended Verona High School until she was needed to help with the family farm. On November 20, 1941 she was united in marriage to George Gerber at Verona. Alleda was a mother, homemaker, and farmer. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ and enjoyed her family, playing cards, and completing word finds. Alleda is survived by her husband George Gerber, children Jerry (Elaine) Gerber of Sun Prairie, WI, Rudy (Betty) Gerber of New Glarus, WI, Andrew (Glenda) Gerber of Monroe, WI, Patricia (Norm) Fries of West Bend, WI, Linda Pederson of Monticello, WI, Sue Gerber of New Glarus, WI, Tina (Russell) Moser of New Glarus, WI, and Connie Schafer of New Glarus, WI, grandchildren Scott Gerber, Christopher Fries, Tammy (Charlie) Baker, Jerry Pederson, Jessica Webber, Jason Gerber, Jaime Gerber, Danny Gerber, Brandon Gerber, Sarina Moser, Jacob Moser, Braxton Schafer, Hannah Schafer, and Alissa Van Epps. She is further survived by a brother LeRoy "Sparky" Hefty of Verona, WI and a sister Dorothy "Penny" (Marvin) Peterson of Belleville, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Edward and George Jr., a sister Ardys Bain, son-in-law Jerry Pederson, and a sister-in-law Ann Hefty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the New Glarus Home Chapel, 600 2nd Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Todd Hackman officiating with burial in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Alleda will be remembered as a wonderful lady who always helped her family, neighbors, friends, or anyone who needed a helping hand or words of encouragement. We, your family were blessed to be able to help you, Mom, in the later years of your life. To a beautiful lady inside and out, thanks for all the love you gave us.
