Alice Mae (Bredeson) Zweifel died on Monday, February 10, 2025, surrounded by family, at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg.  She was born on September 5, 1940 to Adolph and Leona (Lord) Bredeson, joining her siblings Neyman, Arnold, Jeronie, Walter, Reuben, Catherine, Betty, and Mary.  Alice grew up on the family farm and attended the LaFollette School.  She graduated as Valedictorian from DeForest High School in 1958.  Alice would continue her education at UW-Platteville while working three jobs.  She graduated cum laude in 1962 with a degree in secondary education, majoring in English and minoring in Spanish and Art.  Alice had an opportunity to continue as a graduate student with a scholarship to Harvard University, but she was unable to accept the scholarship due to the additional costs with attending Harvard.  She was charter member of the Iota Rho chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for education majors.  She began teaching English and Speech in Sauk Prairie, WI.  On August 10, 1963, Alice was united in marriage to Frederick W. Zweifel at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church.  The couple would move throughout Southern Wisconsin, including the Lake Geneva area, Janesville, Belleville, and the Milwaukee suburbs as Fred's career guided them.  In each place, Alice worked as a teacher or substitute teacher.  While in Belleville, she would establish the Belleville Nursery Center for 3- to 5-year-olds in 1969.  While in Brookfield, Alice became the publicity liaison for the Wisconsin Council for Gifted and Talented, and co-authored the book "Gifted Kids" in 1979.  In 1981, she accepted the position of Director of Education at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. Through her church involvement, Alice completed a two-year Mini-Seminary and became an Associate in Ministry.  Following their move to Sun Prairie in 1990, she served Interims as Associate in Ministry at Luther Memorial in Madison, Our Savior's in Sun Prairie, and St. James in Verona.  Alice held all of these many positions while being a wife and mother with the births of her sons Bennet and Kyle. Family genealogy was a passion project for Alice.  She researched many centuries of ancestral data on both her and Fred's lineage. She compiled this information into books that would later be requested by local Historical Societies, given their depth of information.   Most of all, her greatest joy was her family.

Alice is survived by her husband Frederick W. Zweifel, sons Bennet (Janet) Zweifel and Kyle (Jessica) Zweifel, and grandsons Riley and Logan. She is further survived by her siblings Catherine Kampen and Mary (Richard) Wendt, brothers-in-law Kenneth Stampfli and L. Henry Zweifel, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Neyman (Marjorie) Bredeson, Arnold (Helen) Bredeson, Jeronie (Arthur) Severson, Walter (Mary) Bredeson, Rueben (Clara) Bredeson, and Betty (Fred) Lienke, father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter E. & Maria Magdalena (Elmer) Zweifel, brothers-in-law Lawrence Kampen, W. Clarence (Velma) Zweifel, Marvin "Buddy" Zweifel, sisters-in-law Pauline (Burton) Jaeger, Helen (Werner) Kuenzi, Mary Stampfli, and Ruth Zweifel.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church, N509 County Rd. C, DeForest, WI, with Pastor Rick Bursh officiating.

A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church.
